Sacred Introduction

Teket n Ma'at en Ba is the Hypostyle Hall of Ba Mesnu Temple. It is the sacred gateway of purification and alignment with Ma'at. Here the initiate learns discipline through fasting, silence, and sacred study. This stage deepens the foundation of the Peristyle Court and brings the soul into greater harmony with the laws of balance and truth.

Name and Meaning

Teket n Ma'at en Ba means “Gateway of Ma'at for the Soul Sojourner.” Teket (gateway) represents the threshold. Passing through requires a purified heart, a steady mind, and readiness to live under the measure of Ma'at.

Prerequisite

Entry into the Hypostyle Hall requires graduation from Per Ankh en Sesen Ba (Peristyle Court). Only those who have completed the full nine-month foundation and received the Peristyle Court graduation may request assessment for the next stage.

Objectives

  • To cultivate purity of heart, clarity of thought, and disciplined action under Ma'at.
  • To establish fasting practices aligned with moon cycles and personal constitution.
  • To deepen stillness through daily Uaa (meditative sitting) and reflective silence.
  • To engage the Forty Two Laws of Ma'at in structured study and application.
  • To strengthen accountability, service, and reliability within the temple community.

Core Practices

  • Fasting and Nourishment: Seneb Ka level fasting, restoring the soul body, aligned with moon cycles.
  • Stillness and Study: Daily Uaa, guided readings, journal assignments, and silence practices.
  • Ritual Observance: Continued altar tending, lunar rituals, and breath practices.
  • Ma'at Work: Weekly law reflections using the structured format of Kemetic Identity, Mystical Meaning, and Modern Application.

Rhythm and Timing

  • Self-paced: Initiates progress at their own rhythm.
  • Sacred Entry: Begin on any New Moon, marking the threshold crossing.
  • Gatherings: Temple Gate gatherings remain mandatory, shifting from bi-monthly to monthly rhythm as the hall matures.

Materials and Vestments

  • Textbook & Journal: Hypostyle Hall assignments and law studies will be provided.
  • Robe: A distinct robe is worn for the Hypostyle Hall, embroidered with symbols of Ma'at.
  • Meditation Seat (St Uaa): Recommended for longer fasting and stillness sessions.
  • Other Tools: Fasting and ritual guidance are provided at orientation.
Tuition is not charged. Costs relate only to robes, materials, and sacred tools.

Accountability and Community

The Hypostyle Hall is a working gate. Attendance at Temple Gate gatherings is required. Timely reflections, fasting observances, and community service are expected. Correction is guided by Ma'at, with truth as the measure and compassion as the way forward.
